Jean-Baptiste Mondino, born 1949 in Aubervilliers, France, is a french photographer, commercial and graphic artist, also illustrator, and videodirector.
He is known as a very sensual and sexual artist, but at the same time he keept being a 'rock'n'roll' soul. Since he has always been attracted by "real" art and is obsessed with guitars, he also started as a DJ and songwriter.

In the '70s he began being illustrater, later art director of an PR-Agency in Paris.
Jean-Baptiste discovered photogrophy by creating covers for discs; hence started his career as photographer and director.
Since he got many prices for his work as musicvideodirector, f.ex. "The boys of summer" from Don Henley, and got famous for his photographys, both in black&white, this literally became the trademark of his work.
His work influenced and revolutinized the era of the '80s and '90s. All the big stars like Madonna or David Bowie struggeled for getting in touch with him and his work. Even in fashion, disigners (YvesSaintLaurent, JeanPaulGaultier, ChristianDior etc.) or magazines (Vogue, Glamour etc.) had their interest in his work, to keep a certain image and to stay with the zeitgeist of that time.
Until today he is one of the most famous, asked and brilliant photographers of the world. This master who knows his handcraft, and is, evidently, very autodidactic, had a long path and it seems that there will be no end...
